deleveraging---(econ)
On the large scale, or macro as it were, is decline of debt to GDP ratio
(thanks Wikipedia). On a very small scale during a horrible economic storm, this
could very likely mean household bankruptcy, selling off of family assets, exodus,
paying down debt, saving more, etc. There is huge disagreement whether macro policy
ought to be set in the opposite direction of micro measures underway during this
Great Recession
and her aftermath. The thoughts of dead economist David Ricardo from
back in the 1800’s, or nineteenth century, keep creeping back into the centre
of the vortex.
