depression----To a mariner, a
tropical depression or typhoon could mean shipwreck. To an economist, a depression means pretty
much the same thing---it is the worst economic storm possible. A recession is a milder storm
but the distinction between these two types of storms could be marginal. Generally it
means job loss and great sadness.
